September 2002 marks the second release from the Paul Williamson Quintet, "TALK IT UP!", featuring 8 striking Williamson originals - each with their own expressive and musical journey. Talk It Up! produces a mix of interesting and adventurous contemporary jazz, further cementing Williamson as an exciting and individual trumpet voice on the Australian Jazz scene. His quintet features equally outstanding players: trombonist Jordan Murray, saxman Anton Delecca, bassist Phillip Rex, and drummer Danny Fischer.

The Paul Williamson Quintet has been a working ensemble for 3 years, playing regularly at Melbourne's premiere jazz clubs Bennetts Lane and Dizzys'. The quintet has received wide airplay on Jim Mcleods ABC Jazztrack, and PBS 'Dizzy Atmosphere' (Gerry Coster) and 'The Pearls' (Kenny Weir) amongst numerous others, and received glowing reviews both nationally and internationally.

"World class stuff………….highly individual trumpet style" - Jim Mcleod, ABC Jazztrack

"Bloody Brilliant……..very Melbourne and very magnificent" - Kenny Weir, Sunday Herald Sun

Following the highly successful debut release in 2001 of 'Non-Consensual Head Compression' the quintet has continued to evolve both compositionally and as an ensemble, playing with competence, conviction, and creativity.

Since graduating from Victorian College of the Arts in 1994, Williamson has spent time studying music in New York and playing professionally with many of Australia's most outstanding musicians. Williamson has been involved in a diverse variety of musical environments, playing/touring/recording/composing with ensembles such as Los Cabrones, Rumberos, James Morrison, Scott Tinkler, Kate Cebrano, The Badloves, Ben Folds Five, Ian Chaplin, The Brown Hornet, Chris Wilson, the Bennetts Lane Big Band, Kim Salmon, Mingus 101 Band, Sam Keevers, Jamie Oehlers, Michelle Nicole, Mark and Nichaud Fitzgibbon, Julien Wilson, and Adrian Sherriff's Onysemble.

Williamson has also appeared at numerous festivals including: Wangaratta International Jazz Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Apollo Bay Music Festival, St Kilda Festival, Chapel St Festival, Brunswick Street Festival, and Monsalvat Jazz Festival as well as touring internationally to Noumea.

In addition to his own quintet, Williamson regularly plays in other original projects including: 'Trumpet A-Go-Go' (with fellow trumpetor Scott Tinkler), Sam Keevers' 'Los Cabrones' and 'Rumberos' (Australian premiere original Latin ensembles), 'Slur' (with Tim Wilson, Sam Keevers, Scott Lambie & Fergus Lloyd), and Sam Grahams 'Empty' (with Kynen Robinson, Chris Hale and Danny Fischer.)
